Hot Stone Massage at Massage Works

Hot Sone Massage

Hot Stone Massage Therapy is an excellent way to treat deep muscle tissue, induce relaxation and aid in the reduction of joint discomfort.

During a hot stone massage therapy treatment; smooth, flat, heated stones are placed on specific parts of your body while the therapist uses others to massage the areas they are working on.

The stones are usually made of basalt, a type of volcanic rock that retains heat and are heated up usually between 120º to 145º in a water filled stone warmer. This heat helps you relax and will aid in easing tense muscles and damaged soft tissues throughout your body.

As RMT’s we assess and treat physical dysfunction and pain of the soft tissue and joints of the body, mostly by hands-on manipulation. Assessment and treatment can include orthopaedic and neurological testing, soft tissue manipulation (Swedish massage is the most commonly used technique), hydrotherapy, remedial exercise programs and client education programs.

Massage Therapy is a Regulated Health Profession in Ontario, and Massage Therapy should only be performed by a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT). A Registered Massage Therapist is a licensed professional with a proven knowledge of physiology and anatomy, overseen by the Regulated Health Professions Act. Only someone who has completed the proper training, testing and registration can be called a “Registered Massage Therapist or RMT.”

Most benefits and extended health care packages require your massage to be administered by an RMT.
